Brooklyn
Brooklyn is a dedicated and dynamic Vocal Coach with a passion for helping vocalists unlock their full potential through technical expertise and an encouraging teaching approach. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance and Songwriting from the University of Southern Queensland, where she focused on collaborative work, songcraft, and live performance. Her educational foundation allows her to connect with clients on both a technical and personal level, blending her knowledge with practical insights into performance and creativity.
Brooklyn’s coaching encompasses a broad spectrum of styles, from contemporary and musical theatre voice at an advanced level to guiding beginners in classical voice. Her sessions are designed to cater to individual interests, whether a vocalist is aiming to master pop, jazz, or the stylistic nuances of musical theatre. With her own proficiency in piano and guitar as well as an advanced skill in trumpet, Brooklyn brings a multi-instrumental perspective to her sessions, adding depth to her guidance on vocal techniques and musicianship.
In addition to vocal coaching, Brooklyn covers essential musical skills such as sight-reading, ear training, production, composition, songwriting, and recording with digital audio workstations (DAWs). This holistic approach not only builds technical ability but also nurtures each singer’s personal expression and creativity.
Brooklyn’s own musical influences – Lizzy McAlpine, Carol Ades, and Adele – inform her unique style and approach to music. Known for recontextualising popular songs into R&B and folk styles, she has begun performing more regularly under her name, “Brooklyn Lea,” delivering acoustic covers that showcase her ability to bring fresh interpretations to well-loved songs. Her soulful renditions resonate with audiences, blending her influences into performances that feel authentic and emotionally grounded.
For Brooklyn, coaching is about more than technical mastery; it’s about creating a supportive environment where vocalists can feel empowered to explore and take creative risks. She strives to be a guide for those who may be hesitant about embracing their own creativity, helping them to communicate authentically through their voice. Brooklyn’s commitment to fostering a comfortable and welcoming learning atmosphere makes her an inspiring mentor for vocalists of all backgrounds, whether they are just beginning or aiming to refine their skills. She supports and encourages vocalists to embrace their unique sound with confidence and curiosity.
