Max is a passionate and dynamic drum coach at Sono Music with a rich background in performance and teaching. He has a diverse musical skill set that extends beyond drums to include piano and trumpet. Max’s musical interests are as diverse as his influences, spanning genres such as surf rock, jazz, blues, metal, funk, pop, and soul. His personal taste in music includes artists such as Tame Impala, Megadeth, Benee, and Virgil Donati. Max is also an active performer in his surf rock band, Shag Rock, and has performed at major events like Splendour In The Grass 2023, where his band rocked the GW McLennan Tent.

Max’s love for teaching stems from the joy he gets from helping clients transform the dots and lines on sheet music into expressive musical statements. His mission is to tailor each lesson to the unique learning style of his drummers, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed while fostering a love for music. Whether it’s mastering complex rhythms, or building proficiency with advanced techniques, training in brush technique or even four-way independence, Max is committed to helping people achieve their musical goals with confidence.

He has developed a deep understanding of performance preparation, songwriting, composition, ear training, and live performance.
