Niall is a passionate and accomplished drum coach at Sono School of Music, offering a dynamic and engaging approach to drumming. Holding a Bachelor of Popular Music from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, he combines formal training with years of hands-on experience as a live performer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer.  

With a deep appreciation for diverse musical genres, Niall specialises in Reggae, R&B/Soul, Metal, Funk, Pop/Rock, Blues, and Jazz. His influences span from classical music to progressive and technical metal, inspired by bands like Dream Theater, Opeth, and Porcupine Tree. This eclectic background shapes his versatile coaching, ensuring that every session is tailored to suit individual goals and interests.  

As a performer, Niall is an active member of the psychedelic rock band Lunar Syrup and has contributed to various albums both as a musician and producer. His creativity also extends to his solo project, Chameleonide, showcasing his innovative approach to music. Beyond drums, Niall plays guitar, bass, and piano, and he incorporates this multi-instrumental perspective into his coaching to enhance musicality and collaboration skills.  

Niall’s teaching prioritises building strong foundational skills like timing, coordination, and rhythm while creating practical opportunities to apply these techniques in real-world contexts such as live performances and ensemble settings. His lessons balance technical precision with a focus on enjoyment, helping clients connect with the music and discover their unique style. This approach allows clients to see tangible progress and understand the connection between technical exercises and real-world musical experiences.
