We are excited to welcome Richard to the team at Sono Music. With a Bachelor of Music (Performance) from Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Richard brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his coaching. Specialising in a wide range of styles, including jazz, blues, pop/rock, funk, metal, and R&B/soul, Richard is confident in guiding drummers of all levels to explore their full potential.

Richard’s skill set extends to advanced techniques such as brush work, Moeller technique, polyrhythms, metric modulation, and four-way independence, as well as Afro-Cuban and Latin rhythms. In addition to his expertise on drums, he has a background in classical percussion, piano, and guitar, adding depth and versatility to his approach.

As a performer, Richard regularly plays with Roshambo Trio, a jazz piano trio, and draws inspiration from iconic musicians such as Philly Joe Jones, Tony Williams, Steve Gadd, and contemporary bands like Karnivool and Neck Deep. His passion for teaching stems from his experiences as a working musician, which have shaped his desire to help others develop their foundational skills and discover their unique style and sound.

Richard’s mission as a coach is to inspire creativity and encourage drummers to express their own musical ideas. We’re thrilled to have Richard as part of our community and look forward to seeing the impact of his guidance and expertise.
