Eric
Eric is an experienced and dedicated piano coach at Sono School of Music with a passion for both music and teaching. He began his journey as a music educator at the age of 13, after earning his AMusA Diploma with a high distinction. Since then, he has continued to grow as a musician, earning advanced qualifications. He also holds a high level of expertise in music theory and musicianship, having completed the highest AMEB levels in these areas.
In addition to piano, Eric has experience playing various instruments, including the violin, viola, trumpet, and guitar, which gives him a well-rounded perspective on music education. His influences span from the timeless works of Beethoven and Chopin to the modern sounds of Jay Chou, and he has a particular affinity for the late Classical and Romantic periods of music.
Eric regularly performs in piano competitions and events, but he also thrives in the teaching room, where he enjoys working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and musical experiences. He appreciates the vibrant, enthusiastic atmosphere at Sono, which aligns with his own passion for music and education. Eric is committed to sharing his knowledge while continuing to learn and grow alongside his clients.
His teaching philosophy is founded on the belief that music should be an accessible and enjoyable skill for everyone, regardless of experience or background. Inspired by the incredible teachers who helped shape his own journey, Eric wants to give back by making music learning as easy and rewarding as possible. He maintains that the most fulfilling part of teaching is witnessing progress – whether big or small – and knowing that he played an active role in helping someone achieve their goals.
Above all, Eric is passionate about creating an environment where music feels welcoming and achievable, and where pianists can enjoy the process of improvement. He hopes to inspire others to continue learning and perhaps even consider teaching music in the future, as his own mentors have inspired him.
